  • The Royal Academy Piccadilly London, England United Kingdom (map)

Curator Dr. Per Rumberg explores the intersecting lives of three artists of the Italian Renaissance - Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael - at the beginning of the 16th century.

In this talk, curator Dr. Per Rumberg will introduce our exhibition Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael; Florence, c. 1504. Join us to discover Florenceā€™s most renowned artists and their remarkable works, as well as their rivalry - both with each other, and for the attention of the most powerful patrons in Florence. Rumberg will take us through some of the highlights in the exhibition, providing a closer look at works of Italian Renaissance drawing such as the Burlington House Cartoon and studies by Leonardo and Michelangelo for their murals, which were commissioned by the Florentine government for the Palazzo Vecchio.

Dr. Per Rumberg is the Jacob Rothschild Head of the Curatorial Department at the National Gallery, London. Previously he was the Curator at the Royal Academy of Arts, London where he curated numerous exhibitions, including Charles I: King and Collector (2018), Late Constable (2021) and Spain and the Hispanic World (2023).
