Saturday Talks: Vi Trinh on Holly Herndon & Mat Dryhurst: The Call

  • Serpentine North West Carriage Drive London, England, W2 2AR United Kingdom (map)

Led by Vi Trinh, Assistant Arts Technologies Curator at Serpentine, this talk provides an immersive experience into The Call, a collaborative project by Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst. The installation uses spatial audio to explore the intersection of art and artificial intelligence, focusing on the development of choral AI models. Through innovative use of field recordings and vocal input, The Call aims to create a unique, participatory art experience where visitors can sing with and through the AI models. This tour offers insights into how the installation was conceptualized and created, highlighting the role of technology in transforming individual voices into a unified, collective experience. The installation challenges traditional boundaries between human and machine, proposing that AI can be used as a bridge to deepen communal connections.
