The proud product of a great winemaking tradition of the past, when founders Mary and Christopher Penfold brought grapes to the bountiful Australian soil and sunshine, and the innovation and courage of the first winemaker, Max Schubert.
 

Penfolds Grange is an Australian icon - a National Trust heritage-listed wine – It is Australia’s first growth with a history, prestige and lasting quality that interconnects with the great wines of Bordeaux. The history of Grange is an intriguing tale of one man’s vision against all odds, first bottled by Schubert in secret in 1951. An unbroken line of vintages of what is now Australia’s most iconic wine has been guarded by a lineage of custodians ever since. The stature of Penfolds Wines has not been achieved through the hindsight of centuries of heritage of the Old World, but through trial, error and persistence; the future is the only reference point.
 

Max Schubert described Grange as ‘buoyant – almost ethereal’, evocative of friendship, happiness and wonder – the essence of the Penfolds experience.
